There is no 'wrong' way to do these things, all that matters is if you like the outcome. No pitch-lock, editing on-the-fly and people loved them. In the past, I would create mash-ups on my decks with just the two vinyls, using the pitch adjustment to match them. Remember to be precice with cutting and placement. Maybe Bitwig has a way of automating this splitting process. If you still want to match one track to the other by splitting it up, split it into eights notes at least, and to save hastle, don't decrease the tempo on the split track(this will create gaps).
You can find the BPM of a song by using software, or by doing some simple maths, if you know how many bars are in the track, and you know the time scale from first to last beat, then you can find the BPM. Go to the video mashup maker and tap the Choose files button to upload your files.

I use Serato software when I play live, and the pitch lock sounds great. Create a mashup video in three steps Upload videos or images. This will fix most issues with beatmatching, but if things still sound a little off you can shift the waveform left or right using the Phase buttons found in the bottom left of the BPM menu to get the kick drums.
Some software's better than others for time stretching. For example, if your first track is reported in Mashup as 127.89, and your second track is reported as 126.78, try entering 128 for the first track and 127 for the second track. Since the dawn of the craft, producers and DJs alike have been sampling and combining different songs to create unique compositions that rock the dance floor and captivate the audience. Another way is to adjust both songs to "meet in the middle". Besides being fun, creating personalized mashups can be the secret weapon that takes your DJ performance from generic to unforgettable. The best way is to increase the lowest tempo to match the highest(compress the lowest track's length). When this is done the creativity can flow unimpaired.
